New York City hosted the start studded 2015 All Star weekend and of course the most anticipated event, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The contestants this year were Zach LaVine (Wolves), Victor Oladipo (Magic), Mason Plumlee (Nets), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks).
After Plumlee and Antetokounmpo were eliminated in the 2nd round, the final round left just LaVine and Oladipo. Oladipo obtained one perfect dunk score in the first round, but that proved to be no match for LaVine’s two perfect dunk scores.
It’s very difficult to create a new dunk, so most players try to put a twist on an already seen jam. Still the 2015 dunk contest did not disappoint, and all the contestants provided fairly entertaining attempts. Zach LaVine was no stranger to high flight, and closed the show out with an alley oop, through the leg, over the head dunk. He took home the trophy with a final score of 45/49 verses Oladipo’s 31/44.
The Timberwolves currently have a losing record of 11 wins and 42 loses, but tonight Zach LaVine brought home a much needed victory to the franchise.
